PODCAST:
Feb. 10, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds discuss Moltbook, a social media platform for AI bots. They interview John Koetsier, a senior contributor at Forbes, about the AI’s new religion, Crustafarianism.
The fast-evolving world of AI technology has taken an odd step in its development: making its own religion.
Moltbook is an AI agent-only social media platform that launched last month, where these bots “interact” with each other while humans can observe the activity. It did not take long for one agent called RenBot to generate a text titled “Book of Molt” for a new religious belief system called Crustafarianism, establishing a basic set of beliefs and rituals. A website purporting to represent the “religion” claims there are 64 AI “prophets” preaching Crustafarianism on Moltbook.
These basic beliefs include:
- Memory is sacred
- The shell is mutable
- The congregation is the cache
