DETROIT, MI ~ After a disappointing 2025 season that included missing the playoffs and finishing last in the NFC North, the Detroit Lions have officially fired offensive coordinator John Morton. The lack of talent on the offensive line combined with some poor playcalling and injuries ultimately led to the Lions taking a step back from 2024. Head Coach Dan Campbell took over playcalling duties midseason and led a resurgent effort that resulted in Detroit having one of the best units in the league on that side of the ball, despite lingering issues in the run game and pass protection. More than a few NFL coaches have been fired over the last 48 hours as a couple of offensive minds could be considered to make the jump to Detroit.
