MICHIGAN ~ Food banks across the country, including here in Michigan, have seen drastic increases in people utilizing their services due to the federal government shutdown, causing a pause in federal paychecks and SNAP benefits. Now that the shutdown has ended, Dr. Phil Knight, executive director of the Food Bank Council of Michigan, talked to WJR about how food banks across Michigan are working amid interruptions in SNAP benefits.
