
Longtime 760 WJR host remembered for decades of service to Michigan radio.
DETROIT – Warren Pierce, a legendary voice on Detroit radio whose career spanned nearly four decades at 760 WJR, passed away on October 31, 2025. He was 82.
Pierce began his tenure at WJR in the 1970s, quickly becoming a fixture of weekend mornings with “The Warren Pierce Show.” His program blended news, lifestyle features, and interviews in a format that resonated deeply with listeners across Michigan. Over the course of his career, Pierce conducted an estimated 70,000 interviews, speaking with authors, entertainers, politicians, and experts from every walk of life.
In addition to his radio work, Pierce also served as an anchor for Fox 2 Detroit, further cementing his reputation as one of the region’s most recognizable broadcasters. Colleagues and fans alike admired his professionalism, curiosity, and ability to make every conversation engaging.
Beyond the studio, Pierce was known for his love of University of Michigan football and his lifelong passion for animals. He is survived by his four daughters—Karen Rosett, Meredith Block, Alexandra Taves, and Samantha Pierce—and four grandchildren.
