DETROIT, MI ~ The government shutdown has been in effect since Oct. 1, and more benefits are set to be lost as a deal remains to be made. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, was set to run out of funds on Saturday, Nov. 1 because of the shutdown, however, a federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration has to use contingency funds as quickly as they can to help keep food stamps available for the roughly 42 million people that rely on SNAP.
Executive Director of the Food Bank Council of Michigan and host of Food First on WJR Dr. Phil Knight chats with Kevin Dietz on “All Talk” to share how the latest development from the shutdown will affect Michigan families.
