DETROIT, Aug. 22, 2025 ~ Detroit Pistons’ free agent guard Malik Beasley has been cleared in an FBI gambling probe that came to light in late June. According to his attorneys Steve Haney and Mike Schachter, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York alerted the two that Beasley was no longer the target of the investigation.
The accusations stemmed from Beasley’s time with the Milwaukee Bucks before he joined Detroit. Beasley was accused of being involved with irregular prop bets during the 2023-2024 season. He was never charged with a crime.
The original news of the investigation came just before Beasley was expected to receive a three-year contract worth up to $42 million. Now, the Pistons can only offer about half of the original annual value, around $7.2 million, if he is to return to the NBA.
