BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI, August 15, 2025 ~Attorneys for Detroit investigative reporter Hank Winchester say he has been cleared of criminal allegations after a months-long investigation headed by the Beverly Hills Police. At a press conference held Friday, Winchester’s legal team confirmed the Oakland County Prosecutor‘s office had declined to authorize charges.
Attorney Todd Flood, who represented Winchester throughout the ordeal, emphasized the thoroughness of the defense’s efforts: “This investigation will end where it began — nowhere,” Flood said. “Because he holds a high-profile position in our community, that can at times generate false accusations.” Flood also revealed that Winchester voluntarily underwent two separate polygraph examinations, both of which indicated no deception.

(CONTINUED) The allegations, which surfaced in June, stemmed from claims of inappropriate conduct during a massage. Authorities executed a search warrant at Winchester’s Beverly Hills home on June 13, seizing electronic devices. The investigation gained traction after a local news outlet reported on the case before any charges were filed, prompting widespread speculation.
Winchester, known for his “Help Me Hank” consumer advocacy segment on WDIV Local 4, was placed on administrative leave during the investigation. In a personal statement, he expressed gratitude for the support he received: “The allegations made against me were outrageous, unfounded and defamatory… I will always fight for you—just as I’ve recently had to fight for myself.”
With the case now closed, his legal team hopes to restore his reputation and move forward.
