DETROIT, Aug 11, 2025 ~ The Detroit Tigers wrapped up their weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels with a commanding 9-5-win Sunday at Comerica Park. The victory pushed Detroit to 68-51 on the season, keeping them atop the AL Central standings.
The Tigers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring twice in the first inning and adding another run in the second. The offense stayed hot in the fourth, piling on four more runs to stretch the lead to 7-0 and put the game out of reach early.
Outfielder Kerry Carpenter led the charge, going 2-for-4 with a double, a three-run homer, and four RBIs. Outfielder Riley Greene chipped in with a two-run shot in the sixth and an RBI single in the first. Second baseman Gleyber Torres added an RBI single, while third baseman Zach McKinstry delivered a couple of key hits to keep the pressure on Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz, who was tagged for seven runs on 10 hits in just over three innings.

(CONTINUED) On the mound, Casey Mize turned in a solid outing, allowing two runs on three hits over five innings while striking out five. The bullpen held firm despite some late scoring from the Angels, including a two-run homer by third baseman Luis Rengifo in the eighth and another by first baseman Nolan Schanuel in the fifth. Catcher Logan O’Hoppe also added an RBI single in the sixth, but the Angels couldn’t close the gap.
With the series win, the Tigers took two of three from Los Angeles and now head to Chicago for a three-game set against the White Sox. Chris Paddack is slated to start Game 1. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m.
