
NEW YORK, July 28, 2025 ~ A tragic shooting at a Midtown Manhattan office building Monday evening has left five people dead and one person critically injured.
The violence began around 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of 345 Park Avenue, a high-rise that houses several major corporate offices. Authorities say the gunman, identified as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura of Las Vegas, opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, killing an off-duty NYPD officer and multiple civilians. The suspect later barricaded himself on the 33rd floor, where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

(CONTINUED) In total, five people were killed, including the shooter. One additional victim remains in critical condition, and several others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The NYPD confirmed the shooter acted alone and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The motive remains under investigation. The incident prompted a massive emergency response and lockdown of the building, which includes offices for the NFL, Blackstone, and other major firms. Streets in the area were closed for hours as police secured the scene and escorted employees to safety.
