DETROIT, July 24, 2025 ~ With former Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator Ben Johnson leaving for the head coaching job in Chicago, Detroit and quarterback Jared Goff are getting adjusted to new offensive coordinator John Morton’s scheme.
“It’s a fun challenge,” Goff said. “I don’t think it’s any bit abnormal from every other team adding new stuff. Some stuff is different, but we’re running a lot of the same stuff. It’s been a good process.”

(CONTINUED) Morton already has some familiarity with the system, working under Head Coach Dan Campbell in 2022 before taking a job in Denver.
Goff led one of the NFL’s top offenses in 2024, throwing for over 4,600 yards. Replicating this success under a new scheme will be key in making a run for a third consecutive NFC North title.
