WASHINGTON D.C., June 24, 2025 ~ U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) is signalling support for President Donald Trump‘s impeachment, potentially joining a Michigan lawmaker’s call for removing the president from office.
Her statement followed a severe escalation in the Middle East with the U.S. bombing three of Iran’s nuclear sites, saying that Trump ordering the strikes without Congressional approval was grounds for impeachment. This call departs from recent Democrat reactions to impeaching the president, with U.S. Rep. Shri Thanedar (MI-13) introducing articles of impeachment against Trump over other policies, but drew ire from fellow Democrats who viewed the bills as a distraction. Republicans were generally in favor of the strikes on Iran due to claims of Iran nearing production of a nuclear weapon, a claim that has been around for decades.
