Perez Powers Up, But Tigers Fall Short in Extras

CHICAGO, June 5, 2025 ~ The Detroit Tigers will have to settle for a split against the Chicago White Sox after Timothy Elko hits a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th to win the game.

Once again, the Detroit Tigers struggled to get runs on board and went down 2-0 in the 4th inning. Casey Mize had an off day at the mound, giving up 6 hits, 2 earned runs, and only striking out three White Sox hitters.

(CONTINUED) While the top of the lineup had a hard time getting on base, the Tigers got another strong performance from Wenceel Pérez, who hit a solo home run in the 7th inning. Tiger’s catcher Dillon Dingler also recorded an RBI in the 7th inning after reaching on an infield single to first.

The baseball world will now turn its eyes to Comerica Park for the upcoming series against the Chicago Cubs. The scheduled starters for the June 6 game at 7:10 p.m. are Tarik Skubal for the Tigers and Ben Brown for the Cubs. Skubal is the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner and is currently considered a frontrunner for the award again this season.
