DETROIT, May 7, 2025 ~ Detroit Pistons‘ President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon addressed the media in the final press conference of the season Wednesday afternoon.
The Pistons were the first team in NBA history to triple its win total in one season, going from 14 victories in 2024 to 44 in 2025. Detroit also won its first playoff game since 2008, taking two games on the road against the third seeded New York Knicks.
“The culture is built, we just have to sustain it,” Langdon told WJR Correspondent Nick Lundberg. “Nobody, except for a lot of our players, expected to have the success we had. We have to continue to work to keep it where it is.”
May 6, 2025 ~ Zach Linfield (Tigers PA Announcer) fills in for Anthony Bellino to discuss with Ryan the atmosphere in LCA during the Pistons playoff games and what Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart had to say about the electric/hostile atmosphere Detroit provided. Anthony then goes on to share his conversation with Pistons Color Commentator Gregory Kelser.
(CONTINUED) Langdon discussed building around the core players that showed major improvement this season. Point guard Cade Cunningham took a leap to become an All-Star, while center Jalen Duren and forward Ausar Thompson substantially improved over the course of the season.
This offseason, Langdon is prioritizing patience. The buzz to trade for an All-Star is palpable, but the development of the core in place is highly valued by Langdon’s staff.
Two key free agents that helped Detroit succeed in the playoffs were point guard Dennis Schröder and runner up for NBA Sixth Man of the Year Malik Beasley.
Shooting guard Jaden Ivey is expected to return from a broken fibula next year while center Isaiah Stewart has been recovering from knee inflammation ever since the first game of the NBA Playoffs. Both will fill glaring holes in the roster when fully healthy.
The NBA Combine is set to start Sunday, May 11. While the Pistons don’t hold a first round pick in the NBA Draft, the staff will be scouting for who is the best fit at pick 37.
