MICHIGAN, March 11, 2025 ~ The field of candidates looking to become Michigan‘s next governor grew Tuesday morning when Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrest announced he would run for the state’s highest office.
The former software engineer and Detroit native has served in his position alongside Gov. Gretchen Whitmer since 2018, who is term limited to run again in the 2026 election. “Hearing from people, they want results, they want a problem solver,” Gilchrest told WJR. “In me, they get an engineer who will work with you, listen to you, and if I don’t have a solution, we’ll find a solution or we’ll build a solution, build a team to make it happen.”
