WASHINGTON DC, March 4, 2025 ~ In a highly charged address to Congress on Tuesday, President Trump emphasized his administration’s achievements in border security, national defense, and economic policies, all while a deep political divide in the United States was on display throughout the room.
During the speech, Democrats largely sat in silence, holding up signs with messages such as “Musk Steals,” “Save Medicaid,” “Protect Veterans,” and “False.” The only significant disruption came from Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who was removed from the House chamber after repeatedly shouting that Trump had “no mandate.”
Through the mostly silent discourse, Trump focused heavily on his administration’s efforts to secure the nation’s borders and bolster national defense. He highlighted the success of the Lakin-Riley Act, which mandates the detention of dangerous criminal aliens, and announced the formal designation of several violent gangs as foreign terrorist organizations.

President Trump Went on to address the need for stronger support of law enforcement and the military. He praised the bravery of Border Patrol agents and announced new initiatives to support police officers and fire departments. Additionally, Trump called for Congress to pass a new crime bill to protect police officers and enhance penalties for repeat offenders.
In addition to domestic policies, Trump touched on international issues, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He shared a letter from Ukrainian President Zelensky that expressed his country’s readiness to negotiate for peace. “Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer.”
Trump also mentioned the recent successes of the Department of Government Oversight (DOGE) and Elon Musk in reducing government waste, as well as the newly imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, which he argued are necessary to protect American interests. These tariffs have sparked backlash from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
