EAST LANSING, March 3, 2025 ~ No. 8 Michigan State basketball (25-5) used a 9-2 run in the last four minutes to down No. 11 Wisconsin Sunday afternoon at the Breslin Center for the Spartans fifth straight win.
Out of the five wins during the streak, four have come against ranked teams, propelling MSU to a slim lead at the top of the Big Ten standings with two games left on the schedule.
Senior guard Jaden Akins led all scorers in the green and white with 19 points. He drained four 3-pointers during his best scoring performance in over a month.
Junior forward Jaxon Kohler came up big down low for MSU, recording a 10 point, 16 rebound double-double. His career-high performance on the boards helped the team gain an 11 rebound advantage for the afternoon.
Sophomore forward Coen Carr provided two timely fast break dunks to get the crowd in East Lansing fired up, including this reverse alley-oop from half court.

(CONTINUED) Once again, Michigan State had 10 players reach the scoring column in the victory. Freshman guard Jase Richardson and senior forward Frankie Fidler both scored a majority of their points in the second half to help the winning effort. Richardson finished with 11 points and five rebounds while Fidler tallied nine points and six boards.
The Spartans did well in defending the 3-point line, only allowing five makes in 32 attempts for a 16% rate. Senior guard John Tonje, the leading scorer for the Badgers, only managed to shoot 3-13 from the field in his 11 point effort. Brother Rice graduate and Wisconsin guard John Blackwell led his team in scoring with 19.
Michigan State will hit the road one last time in the regular season this week as the team will travel to Iowa on Thursday, March 6. Coverage on 760 WJR is set to tipoff at 7 p.m.
