DETROIT, Jan. 28, 2025 ~ Drama is brewing in downtown Detroit between two culinary staples in the area, trading blame for a health situation that shut down one of the locations.
Lafayette Coney Island was shut down over the weekend after Detroit health inspectors found evidence of rat feces in the basement, two years after the restaurant was closed for similar reasons. Grace Keros, owner of American Coney Island located right next to Lafayette, is furious over the association with their long-time coney rival’s health issues, claiming her restaurant is clean and completely different from Lafayette during a Monday news conference.
