Michigan Medicine Reports Over 56,000 People’s Personal Information Leaked After Cyberattack

ANN ARBOR, July 23, 2024 ~ Michigan Medicine said the personal information of thousands of people was compromised in a cyberattack between May 23-29.

There were 56,953 people affected by the attack, with hackers gaining access to names, medical record numbers, addresses, dates of birth, diagnostic, treatment information, and health insurance details.  Michigan Medicine said the emails were job-related communications for payment and billing coordination for Michigan Medicine patients, and no credit card, debit card, or bank account numbers were compromised.

Michigan Medicine began to mail notices to affected individuals last week. All affected patients are encouraged to monitor medical insurance statements for fraudulent transactions.
