ANN ARBOR, MI, Feb. 18, 2024 ~ The Michigan State Spartans defeated the Michigan Wolverines 73 –63 on Saturday for the second time this season.

Michigan State traveled to the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor for this matchup. A little earlier this season, the two teams faced off at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. Michigan was without their leading scorer, Dug McDaniel, in that game due to academic ineligibility. With McDaniel in the lineup for this home game, the Wolverines looked to get their revenge.

(CONTINUED) In the first half, Michigan had the edge as the Spartans were dragging behind. With under five minutes remaining in the half, the Spartans finally pulled away by nine. McDaniel would respond with seven unanswered points in those final minutes to cut the Spartan lead to two going into the half.

To begin the second half, Michigan State would be forced to play from behind once again. However, a 9-0 run would get the Spartans even with the Wolverines as the game hit its seven-minute mark. In those final seven minutes, Michigan State held Michigan scoreless. Add on to that a 10-0 run led by Malik Hall, who finished with 18 points, contributed to the victory over the Wolverines.

Michigan State is now on a three-game winning streak. The Spartans return to the Breslin Center for a date with the Iowa Hawkeyes, another Big Ten Conference opponent. Coverage starts at 6 p.m. on 760 WJR.
