Wisconsin Knocks Off Michigan State for the Second Time This Season

MADISON, WI, Jan. 26, 2024 ~ The Michigan State Spartans were defeated by the Wisconsin Badgers for the second time this season at 66-81.

The Badgers had the edge all the way through the game at the  Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The Spartans could not stop Wisconsin defensively, with the Badgers’ A.J. Storr being Wisconsin’s key piece offensively.

Storr had 12 points in the first half, getting the Badgers out to a 10-point lead. Storr put up 22 points in the first matchup between Michigan State and Wisconsin where the Badgers won that one 70-57.

(CONTINUED) Wisconsin continued to bring the intensity in the second half with Storr pushing the offensive in the second half, finishing the game with 28 points. Wisconsin’s Steven Crowl also played a reliable role in the Badgers offense, scoring 15 points.

Spartans’ A.J. Hoggard and Malik Hall were some of the few bright spots Michigan State had in the game, with Hoggard scoring 19 points with a pair of three-pointers and Hall scoring 13 points. Even with four scorers in double-digit points, the Spartans could not get the job done in Madison.

With the loss, Michigan State descends to a record of 4-5 in the Big Ten Conference, and 12-8 overall. The Spartans are back in the Breslin Center on Tuesday as they face off against their instate rivals Michigan. Coverage starts at 8 p.m. on 760 WJR.
