NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Visits Detroit: ‘We Didn’t Hesitate’ to Hold Draft in Detroit

DETROIT, Jan. 17, 2024 ~ Just 99 days ahead of the 2024 NFL DraftNFL Commissioner Roger Goodell paid a visit to Detroit to talk about what to expect from the city hosting the upcoming draft.

During Visit Detroit‘s Annual Partnership Meeting on Wednesday, NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico spoke to Goodell about the significance of the NFL Draft coming to Detroit. When asked why Detroit was chosen for this year’s draft, the commissioner gave credit to the Detroit Lions for “pursuing aggressively” to hold the draft in the Motor City.

We didn’t hesitate,” Goodell said. “We thought this would be a great place for the draft, and we have no doubt about it.
