DETROIT, Jan. 17, 2024 ~ Just 99 days ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell paid a visit to Detroit to talk about what to expect from the city hosting the upcoming draft.
During Visit Detroit‘s Annual Partnership Meeting on Wednesday, NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico spoke to Goodell about the significance of the NFL Draft coming to Detroit. When asked why Detroit was chosen for this year’s draft, the commissioner gave credit to the Detroit Lions for “pursuing aggressively” to hold the draft in the Motor City.
“We didn’t hesitate,” Goodell said. “We thought this would be a great place for the draft, and we have no doubt about it.“

Topics will include what to expect from the draft taking place in the Motor City and how to get involved when it arrives on April 25-27. The meeting takes place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Ford Field, which will also feature appearances from Visit Detroit President and CEO Claude Molinari, Detroit Lions President and CEO Rod Wood, and Metro Detroit Black Business Alliance COO Kai Bowman.
