CHICAGO, Dec. 11, 2023 ~ The Detroit Lions fell to the Chicago Bears 13-28 in their second matchup of the season at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Lions struggled to contain Justin Fields and D.J. Moore. Chicago scored on their opening drive with a 19-yard rushing touchdown from Moore – his first ever rushing touchdown in the NFL.

The Lions wouldn’t respond immediately as the Bears would go up 10-0 entering the second quarter. After an interception thrown by Jared Goff in their first drive of the second quarter, Jahmyr Gibbs gave Detroit life with a 12-yard rushing touchdown. Riley Patterson would go on to miss the extra point to put Chicago up 10-6.

The Lions forced a Bears’ punt and had enough time to put points on the board before the end of the half. Josh Reynolds came through for the team with an eight-yard receiving touchdown thrown by Goff, ending the half.

(CONTINUED) The Lions received the ball at the beginning of the second half with a short three-and-out possession. Chicago would tie the score with a 25-yard field goal by Cairo Santos.

Later in the quarter, the Bears mounted a touchdown drive with a 38-yard receiving touchdown from Moore, his second of the day. Chicago would take the lead with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Lions would go on to fumble on the following drive: a mistake that would eventually allow Fields to scramble into the endzone for an 11-yard rushing touchdown to end the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Chicago added to their lead with another field goal from Santos. The Lions wouldn’t make a comeback after multiple failed drives and another interception thrown by Goff.

With the loss, the Lions are now 9-4, but still remain in the driver’s seat in the NFC North. Detroit is back at Ford Field to face the Denver Broncos on Saturday, December 16.
