DETROIT, Oct. 11, 2023 ~ The Detroit Red Wings are headed to the ice to face the New Jersey Devils Thursday night, kicking off the long-awaited 2023-2024 hockey season.

The expectations for the Wings season have been elevated.

Composed of a 23-man roster, there are 13 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders. The vastly revamped team holds the deepest roster since 2019, with hopes to score more, defend better, and, ultimately, win more.

Last year’s holes are filled, and excitement is in the air.

Captain Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat, the headline addition traded from the Blackhawks, are a threat on the ice, serving as the strongest first line. However, each line is equipped to create opportunities for success.

Head Coach Derek Lalonde emphasizes that the beauty of depth allows for variations between the lines and more diverse outcomes.
