IRS Stops Most Unannounced Visits to Taxpayers’ Homes and Businesses

July 25, 2023 ~ The Internal Revenue Service will cut back most unannounced visits to taxpayers’ homes for unpaid taxes, the agency announced Monday.

The IRS cited concerns with the safety of its employees and a growing number of scammers for why the change was made. Taxpayers will get mail to schedule face-to-face meetings instead.
