May 11, 2023 ~ The Detroit Lions will kick off in the first game of the 2023 NFL season!

The opening game, set for Sept. 7 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, will be a showdown between the Lions and the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Lions will battle in at least four primetime games this season.

The last time the Lions opened the NFL season against the Super Bowl champion was in 1967, when the team faced off against the Green Bay Packers after they won Super Bowl I. For the first time since 2018, the Lions will host a Monday Night Football game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
