May 3, 2023 ~ Questions are being raised about Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s recent vacation to the Caribbean.

On Tuesday, Detroit News Columnist Charlie LeDuff published a piece claiming that a Traverse City-based law firm paid for Nessel’s trip to the Caribbean. She later wrote on Twitter that she does not have family vacations paid for by others.

LeDuff told 760 WJR’s Guy Gordon that the law firm of lawyer Kelly Neumann, who had dealings with Nessel, paid her recent $8,629.65 a day stay at the Ritz Carlton Turks & Caicos. He said this was confirmed by hotel staff.

Where is the legislature?” LeDuff said to Gordon. “This place is a swamp.”

Nessel posted a tweet on Wednesday, rebuking what LeDuff said.

On the rare occasion my family takes personal vacations, we pay for it ourselves,” Nessel said. “Not through a campaign committee, C3, C4, or at the expense of lobbyists. (We use) our personal finances. We also do not vacation with those who do business with or have cases against the State of Michigan.”
