Detroit Metro Airport Implements Facial Recognition Technology with Delta Air Lines

DETROIT, July 5, 2022 ~ Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) has implemented facial recognition technology to identify each traveler and aid individuals in navigating the airport.

July 5, 2022 ~ 760 WJR Senior News Analyst Lloyd Jackson talks to Paul W. about new facial recognition technology that’s being rolled out at Detroit Metro Airport.

(CONTINUED) The program, dubbed “Parallel Reality,” was created through a partnership with Delta Air Lines and Misapplied Sciences, and is currently in use on a single monitor at DTW’s McNamara Terminal.

The terminal uses special pixels and tracking technology to project personalized information to up to 100 people on a single monitor, showing travelers only their own information and not the information of those around them. Additionally, the information will be shown in a language of each individual’s choosing.
