DETROIT, June 17, 2022 ~ Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 2.9 million vehicles due to a transmission problem that can lead to potential rollaway crashes.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted documents stating that components attaching the shifter cable to the transmission can degrade or detach, stopping the vehicles from shifting into the desired gear.

The recall includes certain models of 2013 to 2019 Escape, 2013 to 2016 Fusion, 2015 to 2018 Edge, 2013 to 2018 C-Max, and 2013 to 2021 Transit Connect.

Owners will be notified of the recall via letter starting June 27.
