DETROIT, May 10, 2022 ~ World-renowned Ukrainian children’s author Andrey Kurkov is in Detroit to talk about his newly translated book “Grey Bees,” which dramatizes the Russian-Ukrainian conflict through the story of a beekeeper.

Everyone in the world is aware of Russian culture, knows Russian history … because Russia is a big country and is always a focus of world attention,” said Kurkov to 760 WJR’s Paul W. Smith. “But apart from the name Ukraine, although Ukraine is supported by the whole democratic world, people don’t know much [about Ukraine].”

Kurkov will be at Book Suey in Hamtramck on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
