DETROIT, February 23, 2022 ~ The Detroit Police Department has begun delivering gun locks to residents upon request due to an increase in accidental deaths from children accessing guns in homes.

If you live in a home where there are no children that ever come over, and you are never going to put any children in danger, then fine, leave your gun on the counter if you want to,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy to 760 WJR’s Paul W. Smith. “But that’s not what I’m talking about … I’m talking about people in their homes where they had left their gun on the floor … on top of a game boy console … and your child then finds it.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy discusses recent cases with Paul W. Smith, and talks on what gun owners should do to prevent unwanted access to their guns.
