Governor Gretchen Whitmer Delivers 2022 State of the State Address

LANSING, January 27, 2022 ~ Governor Gretchen Whitmer delivered her annual State of The State address Wednesday from the Detroit Diesel manufacturing facility in Redford Township.

Flanked by a backdrop that touted Michigan’s engineering and manufacturing prowess, the Governor gave an optimistic address that outlined recent accomplishments, as well as her election year agenda.

Highlights included the recently announced $7 billion dollar General Motors investment for in-state EV manufacturing, enacted auto insurance reforms that are giving $400 checks per vehicle to Michigan drivers, and a proposed repeal of the retirement tax, which officials say will save half a million households up to $1,000 a year.
