DETROIT, November 12, 2021 ~ Friday, the Detroit Goodfellows held their 31st Annual Tribute Breakfast at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters, which this year honored PVS Chemicals Chairman James B. Nicholson with the 2021 Edward H. McNamara Goodfellow of the Year Award.
Jim is widely known for his civic and charitable activities. He has been honored by numerous charitable organizations and was named Michiganian of the Year in 2004 by The Detroit News. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan and the Futures Foundation.
As Chairman of Detroit-based PVS Chemicals Inc., Nicholson has used his platform to inspire those around him to empower our community and lift up those within it.
“All the people at PVS work very hard so I can do these things, so, we really owe it to them, not to me,” said Nicholson to 760 WJR’s Paul W. Smith. “We live here, we’ve been here for 76 years as a company, and we plan to stay.”

The event was aired live by 760 WJR — The Voice of the Tribute Breakfast, and hosted by Paul W. Smith, who is a past Goodfellow of the Year recipient.
The event was also a fundraiser, with funds raised going to buy Christmas gift packages for 30,000 Detroit-area children ages four through 13 in need. The fundraiser also helps provide a shoe program, dental program, college scholarships, and camperships.
