DETROIT, May 24, 2021 ~ Monday, Governor Whitmer’s administration announced official updates to COVID-19 restrictions as cases and positive tests continue to decline.

\”The reason we can take these steps is thanks to every Michigander who has stepped up and taken action to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe,\” said Whitmer in a statement.

Under the new rules, employers may now allow fully-vaccinated employees to work without face coverings and social distancing, as long as non-vaccinated employees continue to follow guidelines.

According to Whitmer, some rules have been delayed so rules can be aligned with new federal workplace guidelines, expected to release in the coming weeks.

\”Of course, that process is taking longer,\” Whitmer said. \”We didn’t want to wait for the feds to promulgate their new OSHA rules.”

July 1, Whitmer is expected to lift the state’s gathering and mask mandates for all individuals.
