Detroit’s Fisher Theatre to be Purchased by London-Based ATG

DETROIT, March 23, 2021 ~ Detroit’s Fisher Theatre has been acquired by London-based International Entertainment Holdings Limited, the parent company of the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG).  The group will be taking over programming operation for the Detroit Opera House and Music Hall as well.

The Fisher Theatre has been overseen by the Nederlander Organization since 1961.  The group changed the 3,500 seat movie and vaudeville palace into a live theatre with just over 2,000 seats, both improving visibility for the audience as well as adding a stronger sense of intimacy.

\”These unique venues have been home to Broadway’s greatest shows, serving local and regional audiences for generations,\” Robert Nederlander Sr. said. \” We are confident that the ATG team will continue to look after the strong foundation that we have created with these theatres in their respective communities and to take them into this next decade with great success.”

ATG was founded in 1992 and owns and operates more than 50 venues in the United States, Britain, and Germany.

\”We look forward to providing the best of Broadway’s shows to their loyal following when the theatres re-open in 2021,” said ATG CEO Mark Cornell.  “And are equally excited to welcome the staff of these prestigious theatres into the ATG community, where we hope that they will thrive and be happy.\”
