DETROIT, March 2, 2021 ~ On Friday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s latest epidemic order goes into effect, increasing capacity at venues statewide.
Indoor dining capacity has been raised to 50 percent, with an extended 11:00 p.m. curfew. Retail stores are allowed to reach a maximum of 50 percent capacity as well. Gyms and casinos can be filled up to 30 percent capacity, and movie theatres are allowed 50 percent of the seats to be filled.
Sports and entertainment stadiums with a capacity of over 10,000 are allowed 750 patrons, while those with a capacity under 10,000 are allowed 375. Outdoor entertainment and recreational facilities are allowed to host a max of 1,000 people.
The Detroit Tigers are planning to begin their season April 1 with fans in the stands, though there is currently no word on whether Comerica Park is considered an indoor or an outdoor venue.
Private gatherings can reach a maximum of 300 people outdoors, and 15 indoors, allowing guests from different houses to partake.
The order is set to last through April 19, though an early extension or change is still possible.
