WASHINGTON DC, February 26, 2021 ~ On Thursday, the Senate confirmed former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm to lead the Energy Department.  The vote was 64-35, with 14 Republicans joining all 50 Democrats.

My sincere thanks to the Senate for your confidence in me,” said Granholm in a Twitter post Thursday afternoon.  “I’m obsessed with creating good-paying clean energy jobs in all corners of America in service of addressing our climate crisis.  I’m impatient for results.  Now let’s get to work!

Granholm has been pushing plans to expand wind and solar technology since her nomination last month.  In a recent interview, Granholm pledged that every job lost in the fossil fuel industry would have a “more than one-to-one replacement.”

She went on to comment on the weather disaster in Texas, contending that winterizing and weatherproofing the state’s clean energy technologies is preferred over a return to the traditional fueling methods that many conservative Texans are now citing as the solution.
