January 22, 2021 ~ In a news conference Friday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that the State of Michigan will allow indoor dining on a limited basis beginning Monday, January 1.

I know this pandemic has hurt our restaurant owners, our restaurant workers, and all of their families,” said Whitmer.  “I want to thank those that made incredible sacrifices and did their part on behalf of protecting our communities from COVID.\”

The eased restrictions allows indoor seating at 25% capacity, with both restaurants and bars required to close at 10 p.m.  The new order also allows non-residential gatherings of up to 10 persons from a maximum of two households.  This new executive order will continue through February 21.

Revised direction comes as Michigan hits a 12-week low in positivity rates, with numbers dropping from a high of 14.2% to a current level of 6.7%.
