WASHINGTON DC, January 20, 2021 ~ Joe Biden was sworn in today as the 46th president of the United States.   Biden used the event to call for unity and healing in a nation gripped by political divisions and a raging pandemic.

End the uncivil war,” said Biden.  “Our better angels have always prevailed … history, faith, and reason can show the way of unity.”

Also today, Kamala Harris cemented her place in history as the first African-American, Asian-American, and female U.S. Vice President.  In a Tweet from earlier, Harris said, “I’m here today because of the women who came before me.”

Biden got right to work after the ceremony, signing as many as 17 executive orders, including a mask mandate for those in federal facilities, and a resolution to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.
