CV Cancels Out HS Football Game

A Detroit-area high school football team has lost its first game to … the corona virus. Utica High School has had to cancel this Friday’s game against L’Anse Creuse. School athletic director Karyn Homes said the team was ‘on a COVID-19 quarantine. The Michigan High School Athletic Association had announced the resumption of football two weeks ago.
The Michigan Health Department has reported there were 571 confirmed new cases of the virus and 11 deaths. This brings the state’s totals to 113,183 cases and 6,612 deaths.
