State Offers Free Tuition For ‘Front Line Workers’

The governor has announced free college tuition and training funds for workers on the frontlines of corona virus. The governor calls it ‘Futures For Front Lines.’ The governor says the state will use 24-million dollars for free tuition and vocational training for various certifications, aimed at  front line workers in the pandemic. The effort is aimed at workers who do not have college degrees. The funds will be used to help some of the workers get their high school diplomas.  Andrea Acavedo, president of Service Employees International Union health care unit, says more than 600,000 Michigan residents are eligible. The governor says the programs are a first in the nation.
