New Book Covers the Evolution of Feminism and Beauty Pageants in America

The Miss America pageant is turning 100 this week, and many wonder what is the relevance of that event in the age of Me Too.  Miss America dropped the “Pageant” part of its name, along with its famous swim suit competition, a few years ago.  A new book by Michigan native Hilary Levy Friedman explores the link between feminism and femme fatale from a unique perspective.  She is the daughter of the woman crowned Miss America 50 years ago.  Marie Osborne of WJR News speaks to both the author and her mother, Miss America 1970.
