Tigers Home Opener Has Many Firsts

Tonight is the Detroit Tigers home opener. But it’s going to be like no other home opener ever seen in the city. The game against Kansas City will not have any fans in Comerica Park and it is being played at night for the first time. Cardboard cut outs of fans will be placed in the first several rows of seats around the ballpark. A warning is being passed along to die-hard fans … don’t crowd into downtown for tailgate parties, or head to bars near the stadium. Health officials continue to warn of the dangers of large crowds and a lack of social distancing and fear that might be the case around Comerica Park tonight. The Tigers opened this shortened season winning two of three games in a weekend series in Cincinnati.
