White Boy Rick is a free man. Richard Wershe Junior was a Detroit teenager when he was sentenced in 1988 to life in prison without parole on drug charges. That sentence was later amended to life with the possibility of parole. He was paroled here in Michigan in 2017, but then sent to Florida to serve time for a conviction for his role in a car theft ring. The Florida Clemency Board agreed to his being released today. He is 51 years of age. His birthday was two days ago. Wershe was picked up by his fiancé from a halfway house near Tampa and will live in Michigan.
