Opening Schools In The Age Of The COVID

Educators across the state are examining Governor Whitmer’s 63-page guideline for the reopening of schools. It contains a lot of what-ifs and will depend on whether a particular district is in phase four or five when schools are scheduled to resume classes. It contained both orders and recommendations and calls for plenty of sacrifices. The governor will require school districts to adopt a comprehensive plan that lays out how they will protect students and educators. She also said her administration will provide 256-million dollars to help schools implement their local plans. The governor made her announcement as a University of Michigan survey was reporting that about one-third of Michigan parents may not send their children back to school this fall because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
