Restaurants Respond To Guv’s Reopener

Restaurants in Michigan are getting ready to reopen with all the changes, most importantly the restrictions on how many people can come in. Dine-in service in restaurants and bars will generally be limited to 50 percent capacity. It begins next Monday. Businesses will be allowed to serve customers inside of their shops without an appointment starting on Thursday. Outdoor crowds of up to 100 are now being allowed. The governor’s new order would also allow employees to work from the office if their work can’t be done at home. Her new executive order would allow for the opening of swimming pools and day camps for children. Whitmer is also allowing sports teams to practice and play as long as long as players on the field and spectators in the stands maintain social distancing. Still closed at this time are casinos, theatres, gyms, barber shops and hair salons.

The state is ordering car insurance companies to give refunds or waivers to consumers, who are doing a lot less driving.
Companies have until June 10th to detail their proposed refund and how the amount was determined. Some insurers have already offered refunds.
