Vehicle Crash Test Winners

The insurance industry is out with it’s top choices for the safest vehicles.  Asian automakers dominate the safety picks.

Hyndai and Mazda led the pack for the safest vehicles in crash tests.

The Insurance Institute has 64 vehicles on it’s list.

Hyundai Motor Group, including the Kia and Genesis brands, has the most vehicles on the list.
Mazda had the most top safety pick plus awards.
The Detroit-3 brands did not fare well.
Only 1 Detroit car made the list as a top safety pick— the Cadillac X-T 6 SUV.
Fiat Chrysler and Mitsubishi had no winners on the safest list.

Institute President David Harckey says technology linked to pedestrian safety was taken into account for the first time.

No pickups or minivans got awards.
