Same Sex Wedding Dispute In Court

A wedding venue that refused to host a same-sex marriage ceremony is suing the state Civil Rights Agency.

Rouch World, a 300-acre park in Sturgis, Michigan charges the Civil Rights Department has no authority to investigate a discrimination claim filed by Natalie Johnson and Megan Oswalt, who wanted to get married at the park.
The owners of Rouch World refused, citing their Christian beliefs.
The Civil Rights agency says the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Act bars discrimination based on sexual orientation.
The lawsuit by Rouch World contends there is no such language in the act, and the legislature has rejected adding LGBT protections to the civil rights law.
The lawsuit is pending in the Michigan Court of Claims.
