3 drivers have been killed in two separate wrecks on Detroit area freeways.
The first one was on EB I-94 at Merriman, where police say a vehicle was broken down in the right center lane of I-94 with hazard lights flashing, but the driver of an SUV slammed into the back of it, careened off the freeway, and she was killed when vehicle number two caught fire. She was a Dearborn Heights resident. The other driver suffered a broken back.
Later, two vehicles got into a crash on EB I-696 at Woodward. The two male drivers got out and were hit by other vehicles, and were killed. Police advise drivers to get off of a freeway if their vehicles are disabled and then call for help.
