MLK Events In Detroit Area

 

Many event across metro Detroit are scheduled on Martin Luther King Day today.

Among them:

Activist Angela Davis will speak at the 34th Annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Symposium at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor.

“Assessing the Dream: A Progress Report” at WMU-Cooley’s Auburn Hills campus.

A civil rights concert will be held at the Village Theater in Canton.

Dearborn Public Schools will hold their MLK Day of Service.

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History has events all day.

Detroit’s Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Rally and March will be at the St. Mathew’s-St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church.

The Detroit Historical Museum will hold its “Beyond the Dream” event.

The Let Freedom Ring Awards at the Fox Theatre will be hosted by civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson.

The Motown Museum will offer free admission to those 17 years and younger.

Wayne State University volunteers will be working on canvassing, cleaning, securing vacant and open homes, and installing Safe Routes signs. Redford

Keeper of the Dream event at Oakland University.

Annual Romulus community celebration. Southfield

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Peace Walk at Hope United Methodist Church, followed by a program at the Southfield Pavilion.

The 21st annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration will take place at Walled Lake Northern High School.

Wrong Conviction Community Forum at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.
