STEPHEN LORD, THE MICHIGAN OPERA THEATRE CONDUCTOR, HAS RESIGNED HIS POST AFTER BEING ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY HARASSING SINGERS, PIANISTS AND CONDUCTORS.
THE CLAIMS ARE FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND LORD ALLEGEDLY LEFT ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE PUBLISHED IN AN ONLINE ARTS PUBLICATION.
THE TWIN CITIES ARTS READER REPORTS ONE OF LORDS TEXTS STATED “IF YOU SLEEP WITH ME, YOU’LL HAVE SO MANY JOBS”.
THE PUBLICATION SAID IT INTERVIEWED MORE THAN A DOZEN PEOPLE WHO ALL SAID LORD HARASSED THEM AND USED HIS POSITION TO SILENCE THEM.
THE MICHIGAN OPERA THEATRE SAID IN A STATEMENT IT HAD ACCEPTED LORDS RESIGNATION FOLLOWING ALLEGATIONS OF HIS PAST BEHAVIOR. LORD HAD BEEN PRINCIPAL CONDUCTOR AT M-O-T FOR 3 YEARS.
